Mystery Society Book Club - Book 1

Come One Come All to join us in our first ever Mystery Book Club (Society). We are joining forces and having a good time while we get out Mystery On! This is a Virtual Book Club and we will meet Once every two weeks via Zoom to discuss our book and other mysterious things! If you are local to the Houston area, I will arrange a once a month meeting for everyone to get together in-person and Gab,Gab,Gab away!

As you may or may not know, a major focus of my business is Social Murder Mystery Events. Two years ago I began writing my own mystery stories for the Murder Mystery events and  I think a Mystery Book Club is the perfect armchair partner to those in-person events. It is the problem solving and suspense that makes these types of stories so intriguing for me. I have been reading murder mystery books since I was in junior high and Agatha Christie remains my all time favorite author of mystery. She has a way of setting up plot line which draws me in and turns me into a detective. I want to be able to solve the crime before she does! Her novels are classic and set the scene for my frame of reference as to what a mystery novel should be. The Book Club is sure to feature Agatha Christie Novels but we will absolutely branch out to other authors and explore.

Book Club Membership Options
1. You may join the Book Club for $25/month and I will purchase and ship the books to you. Each month I will include a special gift in your book shipment that is related to our story. You will receive our Book Club book Monthly even of you are not able to participate in the Book Club Meetings. You still get to enjoy the stories.
2. You may purchase the Books on your own. I will provide links to both the Paper Books, Audio Books and Digital Download Books every month. Please be advised that the links I provide may be affiliate links.

To Sign up for Book Club please click here: https://creative-learning-soceity.square .site

Our first Book is "Death on the Nile" by Agatha Christie - sorry I had to start there!  Our first Virtual Book Club Meeting will be held Wednesday April 29th via Zoom Meeting! Once you sign up for Book Club (Monthly Membership or Buy your own Membership) I will send you our private Zoom Meeting Link with additional instructions for downloading the app etc... How exciting!

Adult Coloring Pages - 52 Weeks of Team Building

One of my favorite stress relievers is coloring. Yes I am older than 10 but hey! isn't coloring something everyone can and should be able to enjoy? When I was in school I would bring coloring books to use after tests and finals. The simple act of coloring provided an escape for my mind and allowed me to relax and shift the focus to the creative side of my brain...this made me happy!

When it comes to team building, it is really important that we recognize that our team members may need a way to de-stress and take a mental break between activities. Think of coloring as a pallet cleanser. When you are fortunate enough to dine in a fine restaurant with a multiple course meal, they provide a small bite of food that they refer to as a pallet cleanser. This allows the diner to wipe the slate clean and prepare for the next course. I suggest we use coloring for the exact same thing. If you are having a conference or string of meetings build in time for a coloring break. Yes you may get some strange looks but adults are just big kids and if the leader and one other person in the participate, you will see a domino effect and soon everyone will be coloring.
Having a long meeting? Put some coloring pages out on the table and colors to allow people to take these at their leisure. Some people are tactile and kinesthetic learners this means that they learn best and focus best when their body is engaged in activity or movement. Allow your adult team members to use this technique to keep them focused and engaged.

The attached document has 5 different Adult Coloring Pages. Feel free to download and print these options. You can find additional coloring pages online.

Have fun my friends!

We are going to play Detective and solve a crime! Yes! This fun and interactive Mini Mystery can be played in 30 minutes with your teams. This is the perfect game to exercise problem solving and cooperation skills. Wondering what lies beneath the download? Here is a preview

Detectives You have a Mission
It is 6:45PM when you are handed a message from an out of breath courier wearing a brown suit pants, white shirt and suspenders. He removes his hat as he runs into the station yelling, “Urgent! Urgent! I have a message for the detectives!”. Once the message is handed to the detectives, he quickly takes his leave. You read the note and immediately proceed to the address

The Letter reads....
Detectives,
I implore you to come at once to 12567 Pearson Street. There has been an insurmountable tragedy. I cannot speak of the details in this letter, I must see you in person. This is life or death. Don’t be long… I will wait as long as I can…the clock is ticking…

                                                                                                                   A.M.G

Do you accept the Mission?

Who doesn't love a good old fashioned game of Bingo? This is the perfect game to play with your team whether they work in the same office as you or if they work remotely. It is engaging, easy to manage and fun!
Purpose: Bingo is a familiar and fun game. This elongated version is a non-intrusive way to connect with your team, encourage interaction and build a routine. This can be played in an office environment or with a remote team.
Materials:
  • Bingo Set including Cards
  • Prizes for winners
Setup
  • Hand Out Bingo Cards – make record of who gets what card. Remote teams – You can take a photo of the assigned Bingo Card and email it to the participant.
  • Assign a location to place the Daily Bingo Number.
    • Office Break room
    • Office Door
    • Remote Teams – Posted online in a Facebook Group, Shared Document site, Folder or daily email

Activity:
This game is designed to be played over a set amount of days or weeks.
  • Assign Bingo cards to the team
  • Announce the location and time when the new Daily Bingo Number will be posted.
  • Announce the type of Bingo you are playing.
    • Standard Bingo – One straight line
    • L Shape – When a player gets every B Square and Bottom line
    • B & O – to win, every square in the B and O line are covered.
    • Frame – The frame for this pattern can be on the outside or the inside of the bingo card.
    • Top & Bottom – This pattern is created when a player plays all top and bottom squares on their bingo card.
  • Each day – Post the Bingo Number (I suggest using an actual Bingo set to ensure the daily pick remains random)
  • Set a standard for how a player notifies you if they get a Bingo. It can be an email or text message or post in the group. Make sure they bring or send a picture of their completed Bingo Card.
  • When someone gets bingo, Make a Big Announcement and give them a prize.
  • Play again! Be sure to change The Bingo cards and start the game over!
Conclusion
Have fun with  this one. Its almost too easy. Stay ontop of posting the Bingo Numbers and make a Big Deal when someone wins! Prizes can be anything you chose.
